Reasons for Breastfeeding...I'm the Dad

The evidence is overwhelming:

Breastfed babies have fewer diseases.
When breastfed babies get sick, they are sick for shorter periods of time.
If you want to see a contented baby, look at their face as they are nursing. For me, that 's one of the most satisfying experiences of being a dad.
Formula companies keep saying their product is more like mother's milk. Why not have the real thing?
It's more convenient.

How it is more convenient?

I didn't have to feed the baby in the middle of the night. My job was just to get the baby, change the diaper and bring the baby to bed with us. It was an easy way to help.
You can go anywhere or do anything with a breastfed baby. We have been at the beach, on a hike in the mountains, at a movie, out to eat, on a plane, at friends' houses. And we could change our minds, be spontaneous, stay out longer - no problem.
You don't have to worry about having to heat the formula, buy the formula, wash the bottles, etc., etc., etc.

Is a breastpump needed?

Sometimes yes, if baby and mom need to be separated.
My first time alone with our daughter was challenging. (This was 25 years ago - no breastpump.) Sue assured me the baby would sleep for 2 hours after she left, that was her pattern. Ten minutes later Kris woke up, crying and seeming to me like she was hungry. I tried water, but that didn't work. Some pumped milk would have been a real help.
A pump would have been great so we could have a night out more easily. Sue did hand express milk, but it seems like it took forever.
Sue didn't go back to work till the kids were older, but a pump would have been the only practical way I could see her going back to work.
