Many times loss of suction strength in a pump which was previously working well can be traced to this valve and/or membrane. These two parts need to be separately hand washed after each use. When reattached, the white disk needs to be inserted completely flat into the yellow valve. After cleaning and checking positioning, if the suction is still low, check both pieces for cracks or holes. Even a hairline crack or a slight tear can reduce suction significantly.
